Najmanje 15 osoba izgubilo je život u petak u ljudskom stampedu na željezničkoj stanici u Mumbaiju u doba najveće gužve, kazao je dužnosnik.

“Petnaest osoba je poginulo od posljedica ozljeda”, izjavio je Tanaji Pawar, glasnogovornik službe za upravljanje katastrofama Mumbaija. Ti bi se podaci mogli i povećati, upozorio je on.

Do stampeda čiji uzrok zasad nije poznat došlo je u jednom hodniku. Vlasti su popisale najmanje pet teško ozlijeđenih osoba.

Indijska televizija emitirala je prizore putnika koji pokušavaju oživjeti smrtno stradale masažom srca.

Lokalni vlakovi glavno su prijevozno sredstvo u gradskom prometu Mumbaija koji broji 20 milijuna stanovnika.
