Film „CODA“ ušao je u povijest dodjele Oscara jer je prvi film koji je osvojio nagradu za najbolji film a da iza njega stoji neka streaming platforma, u ovom slučaju AppleTV+.

„CODA“ (Child of Deaf Adults) je film u čijem središtu je obitelj čiji su otac, majka i sin gluhonijemi dok kći nije te želi postati pjevačica. Radi se o remakeu francuskog filma iz 2014. godine, komedije „Glas obitelji Bélier“, te je iznimno hvaljen i zato što glavnu glumačku ekipu čine gluhonijeme osobe. Film je osvojio još dva Oscara, Troy Kotsur za sporednu mušku ulogu te Sian Heder za najbolji adaptirani scenarij. Sian Heder ujedno je i redateljica filma. Troy Kotsur je prvi gluhonijemi glumac u povijesti koji je osvojio Oscara.

Ceremoniju dodjele Oscara obilježio je Will Smith koji je proglašen najboljim glumcem za ulogu Richarda Williamsa, oca tenisačica Venus i Serene Williams, u filmu „Kralj Richard“. U jednom trenutku, on je krenuo prema pozornici i ošamario Chrisa Rocka koji se našalio na račun njegove supruge Jade Pinkett Smith.“Ne stavljaj ime moje žene u svoja jebena usta“, viknuo mu je Smith koji se kasnije ispričao Američkoj filmskoj akademiji ali ne i samom Chrisu Rocku.
