Story:
Sirte, Libya, is one of the three self-proclaimed capitals of the so-called Islamic State, along with Raqqa in Syria and Mosul in Iraq. It was the first of the three to fall, with an offensive launched by the Libyan government in May 2016. It took seven months of fighting, 500 American airstrikes, the lives of 700 Libyan soldiers and more than 3,000 injured Libyan soldiers to finally declare the city free. Rusija očekuje da će održati trilateralne razgovore o sukobu u Siriji s predstavnicima Sjedinjenih Država i Ujedinjenih naroda 24. travnja u Ženevi, izvijestili su u ponedjeljak državni mediji.

Posebni izaslanik UN-a za Siriju Staffan de Mistura pristao je na te razgovore, izjavio je zamjenik ruskog ministra vanjskih poslova Mihail Bogdanov.

Rusiju bi na tom sastanku trebao predstavljati Genadij Gatilov, također zamjenik šefa ruske diplomacije.

Datum je još uvijek provizoran jer Rusija čeka potvrdu Sjedinjenih Država, javlja agencija TASS.

Rusija i SAD podržavaju suprotne strane u sirijskom građanskom ratu, ali se slažu oko potrebe iskorijenjivanja terorističkih skupina, među kojima je Islamska država.

Rusija pruža potporu sirijskog režimu dok SAD podupire dio pobunjeničkih skupina koje žele svrgnuti taj režim.
