Povela je Argentina u 19. minuti preko Sergija Aguera, koji je sjajno primio loptu u šesnaestercu, okrenuo se i prekrasno pogodio iza leđa Halldórssona. Samo četiri minute kasnije Finnbohason se upisao u povijest islandskog nogometa zabovši prvi pogodak Islanda na Svjetkim prvenstvima.
