Austrijski Ustavni sud ukinuo zabranu potpomognutog samoubojstva

Pacijenti u Austriji moći će okončati svoje živote uz pomoć drugih, odlučio je u petak Ustavni sud ukinuvši zabranu potpomognutog samoubojstva.

Ubojstvo na zahtjev i dalje ostaje kazneno djelo, istaknuo je sud.

Nekoliko građana zatražilo je od sudaca da ukinu dosadašnja pravila. Među njima je 56-godišnji muškarac prikovan za krevet koji boluje od multiple skleroze i ne može počiniti samoubojstvo bez pomoći.

Jedan od njih je i liječnik koji bi želio pomoći u takvim slučajevima a da pritom ne snosi pravne i profesionalne posljedice.

Sadašnjm potpunom zabranom “krši se pravo na samoodređenje”, zaključio je sud.

“Pravo na samoodređenje obuhvaća i pravo odlučivanja o svom životu, kao i pravo na dostojno umiranje. Pravo na slobodno samoodređenje obuhvaća i pravo onih koji žele umrijeti da koriste pomoć”, naveo je sud.

Vlasti moraju donijeti mjere kako bi se spriječila zloporaba pomoći pri samoubojstvu, stoji u odluci suda.
